LPI was hired mainly to handle on-site PR for the 2nd annual San Diego Half Marathon, which is unique in that all of the event’s proceeds are donated to local charities in addition to the funds individual runners can raise for their preferred charities. An aggressive social media campaign, good old fashioned media relations and profiles of interesting runners got local, national and even international media involved. Some even ran the half marathon in addition to covering it!
Worldwide coverage including NHK, ABC San Diego, KUSI, NBC, CBS, San Diego Union-Tribune and Runner’s World. Multiple live shots beginning at 4 am the morning of the race profiled the charities involved including Huntington’s Disease Society of America, ALS Association and Team Red, White and Blue, among others.
